About the course
Mindfulness is a way of being that can be cultivated, the attitudinal qualities that sustain it can be fostered and the attention required to support present moment awareness can be trained. The 8-week programme is designed to allow for the time and practice needed for new neural pathways to be established and different attitudes to be embedded.
The course is taught in a small group (maximum of 10 participants) and consists of 8 two-hour sessions and 1 whole day mostly devoted to silent practice. It involves intensive training in mindfulness meditation through a range of different guided practices, some didactic teaching on stress, the acquisition of life-skills, and psychological elements borrowed from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Time is also spent as a group to explore our experience of the practice and to support each other’s learning. Commitment to regular home practice is essential to getting the most out of the course so that the skills acquired become second nature and participants are asked to complete approximately 40 minutes of home practice daily throughout the 8 weeks.
Who is it for?
- Anyone wishing to enhance their quality of life
- Anyone who experiences stress-related difficulties
- Anyone needing skills to support them with physical or psychological health difficulties
I have over 15 years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist and have completed teacher training at Postgraduate Certificate level at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University – the foremost UK university for MBSR teacher training. I am a long-term meditator and yoga-practitioner.

A two-hour monthly session to revive, strengthen and deepen your practice. Open to anyone who has completed the 8-week course.
Each session will offer an opportunity to deepen familiar practices and learn new ones, taken in particular from Rick Hanson Neuroplasticity Programme and the Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL) course. Our emphasis will be on strengthening our capacity for self-regulation and self-care, cultivating resilience, building inner resources and developing self-compassion.
